Julie-Glavin Standing in kitchen with flowers
julie Glavin, Principal JGD Design

Rooted in a contemporary model of craftsmanship for timelessness.

Julie characterizes her childhood as in many ways a tutorial in interior decorating spent around construction sites, antique stores, and in the unique home designed by her mother. The freedom to explore nature in woodlands and beaches. Youthful self expression creating piles of ‘deluxe’ but rickety tree houses formed an ongoing identity and inquisitiveness for shelter and decor.

Curiosity,  traveling across continents on her own from a young age and seeing ‘how’ people live, deeply inspired her outlook toward  art, shelter, and landscape.  The intense uber pacing of creating new games and platforms spurred the love of problem solving. Hand printing fabric and designing one-of -a kind clothing line shown at Sandra Sakata’s Obiko enlightened her love of fabric. Eventually, a continuum of requests to design friend’s homes paved the way to for her in making many  a “house a home”.
